Check this out!

Slowly but surely…I’m getting the hang of wearing red!!

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve always quite liked the look of red; I just never, for some reason, felt very comfortable wearing it!!  (Other than red hair; but that’s a whole different story!!)

So I’ve been sticking to a “baby steps” philosophy both in terms of frequency of wear – once every week or two – and investment – nothing too expensive that I may later regret.  That’s why the  last time you saw me in anything that contained more than just a hint of red was for my “Ready or not!” post…which was actually about a month ago.  And that’s also why these fun, plaid jeans from Forever 21 came home with me after a recent shopping expedition; at only $15, I didn’t think I had much to lose!!

We hear a lot about “fast fashion” now, and how the purchase of cheap clothing isn’t really the way to go on so many different levels; not the least of which is just a serious lack of quality.  But speaking from personal experience, I’ve certainly seen my share of pricey pieces that were poorly constructed…and inexpensive pieces that were remarkably well-made.  These jeans are a prime example – the denim is a really good weight, and the fit is pretty much perfect!!

And speaking of quality…my mustard-toned, long-sleeved tee (you’ve seen it here before) is not disintegrating in front of your very eyes; it’s just the cool, distressed texture!!  As to the sanity of purchasing clothing that already has holes in??  That’s a whole other story, too!!  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Distressed finishes are growing on me, too (as you can see!!) And I got that necklace from a Mexican import shop in Toronto…before I moved to Vancouver!!

Maximum impact for minimum investment; don't you think, Dawn?! We all probably have our "comfort zone" when it comes to dressing – or anything else! – but life would get pretty boring without trying something new every once in a while!!

Wow dear Monika, the pants are really gorgeous. I really like the mustard yellow-sweater together with the rest of your outfit… And I can understand your thoughts… In last fall I saw a similar pants and I was not brave enough to buy these. If I look at you, I regret my decision. And I really like your jacket… Have a nice sunday – dearest greetings Conny xoxo

It's those times when you're not sure about a particular trend that "fast fashion" truly has its merits!! I wouldn't have wanted to spend a lot of money for these red plaid jeans, because I don't know what kind of staying power they will have in my wardrobe!! Keep looking, dear Conny…you may yet find your own bargain version!!
