My boyfriends

So…I know the trend lately is to have your boyfriend jeans fitting just a little snugger than the way we saw them worn a few seasons ago, but to that I say “what’s the point?!”

I have a whole collection of figure-hugging bootcut and skinny denim; I want my boyfriend jeans (these are from Joe Fresh) to look like I genuinely might have borrowed them from a boy…a little oversized and slouchy, in other words!!  But for me, that’s where the tomboyish element usually ends; everything else about the look should be more girlish, to help balance out the masculine feel of the jeans.

Notice how I said “usually??”  That’s because I think the ultimate footwear to go with boyfriends (the denim variety…but maybe real boyfriends, too!) is a high-heeled pump…and I can’t wear mine right now!!  I keep trying, but my swollen foot just won’t fit!!

Necessity is the mother of invention, though; so I decided to try the baggy silhouette paired with my block-heeled Jeffrey Campbell shoes.

Definitely more “tomboy” than the norm for me…but kinda cute, don’t you think?!

I'm with you, love my boyfriend jeans slouchy and I usually love wearing mine with a fun blazer & heels or loose cami & sandals. Love how you've styled yours here + the Jeffrey Campbells are a dream. Love em'! Happy Monday, lovey!! xoxo

Camis are great for upping the femininity factor of a look, aren't they, dearest Veronika?! And I really wasn't so sure about that chunky heel at first…but it's growing on me!! XO

Virtually all of my "girliest" shoes are unwearable right now, dearest Dana…so I've really been forced to experiment with some different styles!! What do you think…maybe that's the "silver lining" in all this?! XO

Super cute look! I agree that BF jeans should be baggy, right? They're not the most flattering look on me, that's for sure, but they are totally adorable on you! Love the whole look!

I don't know if they're exactly "flattering" on me either, dearest Dawn!! But sometimes it's not so much about "flattering"…it's about "fun!!" Surprisingly, though, my husband seems to like them…so maybe we're both wrong about the "flattering" part!! 😉

I agree with you, they should be bigger! I love boyfriend jeans and I want them to stay exactly as they were intended. I personally like them with flats and a fem top. And you are right..your white shoes are VERY similar! You look great love!

Hi there, dear Sheree!! I think I need at least a bit of a heel to compensate for the extra volume of these jeans…my legs aren't quite as long as yours!! 😉 And I'm not ashamed to say that I was totally using YOUR white shoes as inspiration when I went shopping for these…couldn't be happier that I found them!!
