In rotation

I’ve admitted that I’m a champion shopper who thoroughly enjoys the thrill of adding a new piece to my wardrobe on a rather regular basis; but this brings up the obvious question…how do I make room for it all??

My husband and I live in a one bedroom condominium; we have no basement, no attic, and no “spare” room that I can use as secondary closet space.  I’ve also limited myself to a set number of hangers for my clothes…which basically means that whenever something new comes home with me, something old needs to, ahem, leave.

Of course, my entire wardrobe is not in perpetual turnover; I’ve held on to a number of favourites for many years.  But when I get tired of a particular item – or when I replace a well-loved piece with a “better” version – the castoffs are carefully packed up and taken to a local charity to be re-homed.

Rampant consumerism, you say?!  I suppose I could be accused of that.  But here’s the deal.  I’ve never smoked and I rarely (like maybe once every other month) drink alcohol.  Because of my food sensitivities, my hubby and I hardly ever eat out; and we share one 9-year-old vehicle…which we bought used.

So, I think this girl has a right to indulge in some regular retail therapy of the fashion kind!!  After all, nobody’s perfect, right?!

When it comes to shopping my rational is… some people golf. I shop! It's honestly a major hobby for me and my only one. Otherwise, both my husband & I are pretty frugal and on budget. So I say, shop, shop!! Plus, THIS OUTFIT. Oh my gosh, freakin' gorgeous. Happy Friday, sweets!! xo

Yay for shopping, dearest Veronika!! And it goes nicely hand-in-hand with blogging, doesn't it…what better way to show off all of our fabulous purchases!! I sooo agree that when you're careful with your budget in other ways, it's perfectly fine to indulge in some retail "self-rewarding" behaviour!! XOXO

So far so good on the weather front here in Vancouver, dear Sabine…we've had a couple of rainy days recently, but our summer doesn't seem ready to leave us just yet!! XOXO

Although my husband and I have no plans to move, I can't say that I don't sometimes dream of having one of those boutique-inspired walk-in closets, dearest Dawn!! But a bigger home means more housekeeping chores…and I'd rather be shopping!! ;D

I love this top and all it's details so much. I'd love to find something like it, or perhaps you've inspired me to alter my military shirt myself.
I'm lucky enough to have a spare closet for my out of season things. I don't know what I'd do without it. But I think with limited space it makes us have to be more careful with what we consume.

I actually bought this sleeveless shirt in Seattle a couple of years ago, dear Joni!! It's proven to be a really versatile piece – I can wear it both as a shirt and a vest – and the masculine styling with those feminine details makes it really unique, I think!! Lucky you to have the extra closet space for fashion "overflow!!" 😉

I love to shop too and love to add new pieces to my closet! You are really good for keeping to a set number of hangers for clothes! I am not that disciplined! This outfit is so sweet! Love that embellished shirt and fringe bag!

Trust me…it's discipline born out of pure necessity, dear Rebecca!! But having limited space does keep my shopping obsession somewhat in check; and it also makes the people at the Salvation Army really happy when they see me coming with another bag of clothes!! 😉

Love this outfit, it's super stylish! I think if I had to get rid of something old every time I buy something new I would probably never shop haha 😀 I have to admit yours is the healthier approach, though, it's good to keep only your best clothes and get rid of all the rest 🙂

It would probably be even better to buy only classic pieces that I would enjoy wearing for years and years, dearest Anett…but I can't help it, I'm the kind of girl who always likes to have something new hanging in her wardrobe!! ;D
