In sequins

I thought I’d take the “sequins for daytime” trend out for a spin this morning, and I have to admit…it’s really kind of fun!!

I’ve gone against the inherently fancy feel of those shiny little discs in a big way by combining my embellished sweater with a lightweight army parka (Vancouver’s weather has been downright balmy recently!) and this adorable floral beanie…which I found on sale at H&M for only five bucks!!

And the spotted skinnies??  You’ve seen them dolled up with a fluffy pink knit and strappy shoes in my “Simply the best!” post; but I’m really happy with how well they transitioned to a much more casual look, as well.

Off to grab my Starbucks soy chai latte now, dear readers…I might be in sequins, but nobody’s mistaking this for a walk of shame!!  😉

I LOVE this whole look, Monika! I love how you pick items with such interesting details – it's always fun to look at your outfits up close, and I find myself going back to photos to keep looking. The beanie is super adorable, and the combination of floral, sequins and dots is wonderful with the army parka and these boots. Fun, casual but sophisticated, modern, upbeat, and intriguing. You are such an inspiration! xxx

Better be careful, dearest Natalia…you might give me a swelled head!! ;D Seriously though, I'm sooo thrilled that you're finding lots to love in my outfit posts; I always say that I dress for myself, but it's a wonderful feeling to get the "thumbs up" from a fellow stylista, too!! XOXO

Oh my gosh Monika, that top – I'm practically swooning! I'm such a sucker for sequins, they get me every time… but put them on a black top and make them into a heart shape and I practically die of excitement. Seriously. The is perfect and you styled it beautifully.

Hi there Cee!! This IS a pretty nifty sweater, isn't it?! You can never go wrong with basic black…but that shiny, sparkly, sequinned heart embellishment just takes that "basic" and turns it on its ear!! 🙂 So nice to have you visit again!! XO

Great outfit as usual! Love the bronze tone of the sequins and I love large sequins like that.

Truth be told, I'm not sure I would have loved this sweater as much if the sequins were a different colour, dearest Joni; but that coppery glimmer works SO well with the black…and my favourite olive green!! 😉

This week I have been pulling out my sequins trying to figure out how to wear them to work. I'm so sad that the holidays are over, but now I feel even more determined to try to wear sequins outside of the holiday season–especially since I've gotten such great sequin pieces post the holidays. This outfit serves as great #inspo. I love those pants too! And I also just scooped up a really cute but cheap beanie at H&M. Mine is black and silver–hey it'll look great with my silver sequin pants! Ok, I'm on it.

    Love it Monika!

I really love this look, Monika! All the pieces individually are so trendy. And when put together, it's just so stunning. Looks laid back but really really trendy!
