The bees knees

I’ve mentioned before that I have this weird (I’ll admit it!) aversion to wearing socks…the only kind that you might see me in are the over-knee variety!!

I’m honestly not sure why I find most socks so unappealing; maybe it’s the vaguely “athletic” vibe they often have, or the way they tend to “cut off” the line of the leg in rather unflattering places.  Whatever it is, though…I’m definitely not the biggest fan of this particular type of leg-wear!!

But when they come up over the knees??  Suddenly, the feeling is altogether different; a little fresh…and most definitely not frumpy!!  They were the perfect option for adding just a bit of extra coverage (and interest!) to this leopard-print dress, mustard cardi and suede boots combination.

When it comes to matters of fashion, however, I will always heed the advice to “never say never.”  Why?? Because lately I’ve seen some ankle-sock-and-statement-shoe combinations that have me asking myself the question…do I dare?!  😉

P.S. Don’t forget to join the Fun Fashion Friday link-up happening today at Fashion Should Be Fun!!

Aww thanks for the shout out, Dear! OMG, the over the knees socks are darling on you! Totally takes me back to the late 80's and early 90's and I wish I still had the legs for them. You definitely do!! Love this look! Thanks for joining in with FUN FASHION FRIDAY! Have a fab weekend!

Who says you don't have the legs for over-knee socks, dearest Dawn?! They give almost as much coverage as a pair of tights…which we know are flattering on EVERYONE!! I dare you to give them a try…fashion should be fun, remember?! ;D

Super cute Monika! If I put on over the knee socks (when I was about 10 years younger) it felt very sexy to me because it resembled the stocking/garter thing. These look great on you and so does all the pattern mixing here. I've been wanting a mustard cardigan for a long time but just can't find the one yet.

There are so many awesome mustard-coloured pieces out there right now, dearest Joni; you'll find your cardi…I'm SURE of it!! And as far as the over-the-knee socks go, please see my "dare" to Dawn; paired with a skirt or dress to show just a sliver of skin, I bet you'd totally rock them!! 😀

Absolutely LOVE your style blog and the fashion ideas! Adore your haircut too. I have fine hair and wondering how thick yours is? Such a cute style and looks easy to maintain. I am in the deep south (Georgia), but we have had some COLD weather this winter.
I think the socks look great with your boots and dress…You can definitely pull this look off!
    Have a wonderful weekend : )

Hi there, Susan…it's so nice to "meet" you!! I'm absolutely thrilled that you're enjoying my blog all the way down in Georgia; and I'm sending best wishes for the "deep freeze" that so much of the continent is experiencing to be over soon!! P.S. My hair is actually quite fine, too…but colouring it blonde does a nice job of beefing up the texture!! And yes, this style is SUPER easy; no need to even blow-dry it…I just use a flat-iron on the front when I want to look a little more "done!!" XO

I just love over the knee socks, any kind of high socks really! I think they are so nice when paired right.
That dress is so pretty and I adore the high boots with these socks, looks great together and such great tones 🙂
    Have a wonderful weekend 😀

PS, Hope Badger and Wolfie are doing great 😀

You are so right, dearest Kelsey and Kenecha…it's all in the way that certain pieces are put together!! Over-knee socks and a tight, micro-mini would perhaps NOT be advisable!! 😉 P.S. You're really sweet to think of Badger and Wolfie…yes, they're doing very well, and have become the best of friends (just like we'd hoped!!) XOXO

Wonderful layering, Monika! Love the color of your cardi and the scarf so much! And the over the knee socks look perfect on you. 🙂 Have a great weekend! xxx

If I have my choice, I'd ALWAYS rather reach for a cardigan than a coat, dearest Natalia…so I'm glad that our weather has continued to play along!! XOXO

Oooh, Monika!! This outfit is damn fine… you're looking so beautiful. I'd wear this in a heart-beat! And yes, socks! Haha, I'm right there with you… never wear em'! Well except for over the knee ones! 😉

Of course this outfit would totally work with tights, too, dearest V…but I liked the unexpected feel of accessorizing with some over-knee socks instead!! XOXO

So fabulous Monika! Love everything and those boots are hot!! A few months back Alice (happiness at midlife) & I did a socks with sandals experiment that turned out quite well!

I remember that particular post, dearest Debbie, and you're right…your "socks and sandals" experiment really did turn out very well!! Proof once again that trying something new every once in a while is NEVER a bad idea!! 😉
