Circle of life

I have such unhappy news to share with you again, dear readers…our little trooper Badger, who rallied so bravely after becoming seriously ill a few weeks before Christmas, has finally lost his battle with cancer.

He required constant nursing all these past months…which was exactly what my husband and I needed to help us recover from Griffin’s passing back in December, and then the unexpected loss of Flora only a week later.

I’m such a firm believer that everything in this world of ours happens for a reason, even if that reason is difficult to fathom at the time.  Badger stayed with us just long enough for our grief over losing his brother and sister to mellow into sweet memories…and to allow our rescue ferret Wolfie to find his way to us, so we wouldn’t be without a fur-baby to love.

Thank you, darling Badger, for all the joy you brought us with your funny antics these last seven years.  We miss you with all our hearts.

Saying good-bye is always such a heartbreak, dearest Sue…but I wouldn't ever trade these tears for all the years of joy we had. Thank you for thinking of me. XOXO

Oh Monika we are so sorry for your lost. What a sweetie he was, so gorgeous. Though we are glad to hear you were with him before he left you and that was the best thing for him.
I remember reading something listing the top 10 things any pet needs through out there lifetime and the last one was even though my time is almost up I really need you here with me. When I read that it nearly broke my heart but it is so true.
Hope you are doing fine doll xx

I'll tell you, dearest Kelsey and Kenecha…one of the saddest things I experience at the veterinary clinic where I work is pet owners simply dropping off their four-legged family members for euthanasia. As difficult as it is, I NEED to be there with my fur-babies at the end…it's the least I can do in exchange for the unconditional love they've given me. XOXO

Thank you very much, dearest Natalia…I'm so glad I have that picture as a lovely remembrance of my special blog photo shoot with Badger. XOXO

That's really sad Monika. Do ferrets typically have short lives? I watched a friend lose 3 of theirs one right after the other. I can't remember what was wrong with them but it was just sad too.
I love the photo of you kissing your sweet!

Ferrets are supposed to reach about 10 years of age, dearest Joni…but they rarely seem to, nowadays. Of course, that doesn't mean you love them any less; and even with the grief of losing some of my fur-babies at a very young age, I wouldn't trade the time I DID have with them for anything in the world. XOXO

I'm so sorry, dear Monika. You know my heart is with you right now. Sending you a big hug. You are obviously such a loving pet mommy and all your babies have been so lucky to have you in their lives.

I'm so sorry, my dear! It is always painful when we lose our loved ones, be it a person or an animal, but as you said, everything happens for a reason and the best thing to do is just to be grateful for all those years you spent together. Better days will come. xx

The only way we could protect ourselves from loss, dearest Anett, is by not loving in the first place…and what kind of life would that be?? Saying good-bye is definitely hard…but yes, the time I had with each of my fur-babies is always worth the tears. XOXO

I'm sorry to hear this sad news, Monika 🙁 7 years together is quite a long time, and I'm sure Badger left some good & beautiful memories for you and your family. Hope you'll feel better soon

I agree that seven years is quite a long time, dear Liza…but of course it's NEVER long enough. Still, I feel very lucky that Badger was a part of our family for those years; and I am also very grateful for your kind words of sympathy…thank you so much. XO
