There are sunny skies and smiles in these photos, but my mood isn’t exactly cheerful as I write this post…unfortunately, little Badger is sick again.
Insulinoma is an insulin-producing tumour of the pancreas – a common cancer in ferrets – and because our little guy is too old to be a candidate for surgery, the best we can do is control his symptoms with medication. If you’ve been visiting my blog for a while, you’ll remember that my husband and I almost lost him just before Christmas; but with time and tons of TLC, we managed to get him on his feet once more.
Now he’s had another collapse…hopefully not quite as serious, but still very worrisome. We have our trip to New Brunswick coming up in a few short weeks, and even though we’ve arranged for both our “boys” to stay at the veterinary clinic where I work, I obviously want Badger to be as stable and healthy as possible before we leave.
Think of us, dear readers…we need plenty of positive energy coming our way right now. XO
(A very sad update: Badger joined his companions Griffin and Flora in ferret heaven early this morning. My husband and I are heartbroken…but grateful that we were with him when he died.)
