Memory lane: Striped maxi dress with a floral kimono

My husband and I celebrated our thirteenth anniversary this past weekend (our actual wedding date is May 19th, but seriously…who wants to party on a Tuesday?!) and every year, we make sure to revisit the little chapel where our ceremony took place.

Minoru Chapel is no longer affiliated with any church, but as a “heritage building” it is maintained by the city of Richmond (a neighbour of Vancouver) and can be rented for weddings…and occasionally, as a location for a movie or commercial!!

Robin and I marvelled at the fact that all the rhododendrons in the park around the chapel had already finished blooming; in 2002, there were flowers everywhere…but our spring started so early this year that we missed them by a good three weeks!!

The upside??  Our summer seems to be ahead of schedule, too; I wasn’t the least bit chilly today…even with nothing more than a light-as-air kimono layered over this strapless maxi dress!!

I love the combination of patterns, and the looooong kimono! That chapel is really beautiful – what a lovely place to be married. My husband and I met on May 19 – in a restaurant in Victoria. Wish we could go there every year!
