Colour me cool: a striped maxi-skirt, blue knit camisole, and bright hobo bag

As much as I love love LOVE summertime, I’ll admit that it does present a sartorial challenge because the accompanying heat and humidity makes “layering” – the cornerstone of so many great outfits! – virtually intolerable!!

So how do you put together an interesting ensemble when even accessories like a belt or jewellery can feel like too much??  My regular readers will know by now that I’m a major fan of neutrals…but I have to admit that colour can work wonders when it comes to giving otherwise simple pieces an extra bit of “oomph!!”

After what seems like forever, I finally found the baby blue top that I’ve been wanting on sale at Zara just last weekend; the cotton knit is an absolutely perfect hybrid of camisole and sweater, don’t you think?! That candy-striped hobo bag is light as air – a refreshing change from a heavier leather version! – and my stack of delicate silver bangles weightlessly finishes this breezy look!!

If you've tried on a few, then you'll know that not ALL maxi-skirts are created equally, dearest Kelsey and Kenecha!! I find that this one has a very flattering drape…and the pin-striping is definitely a bonus, too!! 😉 P.S. Wolfie ate a little on his own today…hurray!!

I adore layered looks, dearest Dawn…but I think an outfit like this proves that a couple of simple pieces – in the right combination – can make a statement as well!! XOXO
