While it’s truly a terrific idea to have an outfit “formula” to count on when we need to feel especially confident, occasionally stepping out of our comfort zone can lead to a whole new world of sartorial possibilities!!
There was a time, for example, when I hated wearing hats; but now they’re one of my favourite ways to accessorize!! It’s easy to get so used to seeing ourselves in a certain way – care of a particular hairstyle, or lipstick colour, or clothing silhouette – that it becomes a real challenge to believe that a new look might actually be a good one…merely because it’s different from what we’ve come to expect when we look in the mirror.
I’m obviously well over my headwear phobia(!)…but nowadays, it’s menswear-inspired dressing that has me wrinkling my nose. Even though I enjoy a tomboyish element in many of my ensembles, I’m always resistant to taking the look “all the way.” Normally, I would have reached for some statement heels to balance out the masculinity of my boyfriend jeans and striped henley tee…but today I decided to push myself just a bit and opted for these western-style booties instead.
What do you think?? Does the finished look “work,” dear readers…or should I have stayed with my own personal style formula – and a pair of pretty pumps! – instead?? I’m looking forward to hearing your opinions!!
