She shrugs: How to layer an oversize-cuffed shirt under a sweater

We’re not going to get into how I feel about fall yet again, dear readers, but I’m big enough to admit there’s actually a few things I do enjoy about the cooler weather…and a great sweater is definitely at the top of that list!!

This lightweight shrug is exactly the kind of piece that I’m always on the lookout for; the interesting seam detail and drapey silhouette pack a whole lot of style punch into a relatively small bit of sartorial “real estate,” don’t you think??

Of course, my powder blue shirt – with its exaggerated cuffs – and grey jeans with their built-in front crease (both from H&M) would be pretty cool on their own, too…but today I couldn’t resist showing off all three of these newest wardrobe additions together!!

And since I’ve been shopping up a storm for autumn and winter, there’ll be plenty more fresh outfit inspo headed your way for the coming weeks!!  I’m as excited as always to share…but right now, I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of this latest combo!!  🙂

This is a cool and interesting ensemble! You've incorporated current trends wonderfully. I get what you mean about sweaters being the upside of fall! Except where I live we won't have sweater weather until the end of the month or sometime in November so I am actually pining for the chance to wear something cozy. You have me tantalized with this outfit. . .

I am not sure that this pullover is technically a shrug though. I think of a shrug as a certain sort of open "cardigan" usually with short sleeves but sometimes with longer ones. I have made a few knitted ones. Not sure if you can access these links but here are some examples (though they have some creative fastenings in the front): http://farm3.static.flickr.com and http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3590/3311574572_1b354ba56d_z.jpg

You're right, dearest Linda – my sweater isn't technically a "shrug"…but merely saying "cropped" somehow didn't do it justice!! 🙂 I checked out the links that you sent, and I absolutely LOVE the olive green knit with the fancy silver closures!! Is it your creation??
