Frozen: what to wear when it’s cold, windy, and wet

I’m not sure that Vancouver’s record books will agree…but it certainly felt like the coldest day so far this winter when we took these pics!!

Luckily, our car was parked just a few steps away; Robin and I must have jumped back into its cocooning warmth at least three times during our photoshoot!!  I had my extra hot Starbucks on the go, too…but I was definitely ready for a second one by the time we’d finished up!!

There’s no doubt – it can be quite challenging to dress for days that are icy and rainy (you can’t see it here, but it wasn’t just cold, it was absolutely pouring, too!) and windy all at once.  I have a crazy-cozy shearling coat that I don’t want to risk when the weather is wet, for example; and a lot of water-stain-resistant options that work for our typically more moderate winter temperatures…but that aren’t so ideal when the mercury takes a serious dive!!

So what’s a diehard fashionista to do??  The best that she can – with jeans, booties, a cute headband to keep my hair from blowing in my face, and a wool-and-faux-leather coat (that I actually buttoned up for a change!!) And while the mesh tee and striped blouse that I layered underneath didn’t do all that much for warmth, they added an extra touch of visual interest…which is almost as important, don’t you agree??  😉

It's very challenging to look great when it's cold and wet….you've certainly cracked it, I love that chic head band and the wool and faux leather coat.

Hi Gail – it's lovely to "meet" you!! I've actually been thinking of giving up that coat (for the generally mild winters we have in Vancouver, I was starting to feel like I have too many outerwear options!) but now I think I've changed my mind!! 🙂 Hope you'll visit again soon!!
