Shape shift: how not to dress like you belong in a fruit basket

Even if you don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions as such, it’s only natural to think of “change” when January rolls around.  So how’s this for a fashion objective for 2017 – isn’t it high time that we banish the notion of “body types” when it comes to our personal style??

Whose idea was it anyway to turn a woman’s figure into a geometry lesson…or – even worse! – to categorize us like the contents of a fruit bowl??

Your shape is simply your shape.  That’s it.  The whole idea that we need to “wear this, not that” because we are a trapezoid or a kumquat is ridiculous!!  How about shifting the focus from our silhouettes to the fabric and fit of our clothing instead – where it belongs!!  Get those two things right and figure flattery will invariably follow.

And of course let’s not forget the most important ingredient of all – outfit love!!  Because loving what we wear is the surest route to confidence there is.  And feeling great??  That always equals looking great!!

OMG…that's exacctly what I say. It's not that you can't wear this or that, but make sure the fit & silhouette is right and you're good to go!
    Love this vest Monika!!

Dressing according to "body type" just seems old-fashioned – even kind of insulting – doesn't it, dearest Jodie?? If you absolutely adore a particular look, find a version that fits you to a "T"…and ta da!! Personal style perfection…without the need for some fruity formula!! 😉

Once again, you have blown me away with your wisdom, dear Monika! Yes and yes to all you said. The outfit is pretty great too.

Aww…thank you so much, dearest Linda!! I'm simply fed up with all those old-school fashion rules that state you shouldn't wear X because it doesn't "suit" you!! As the granddaughter of a tailor, I'm convinced that everything can work for everyone…as long as it REALLY fits!! 😀

Oh yeah, I always say: just wear what you like, if you feel happy and confidant on what you wear then it will reflect your personality. Confidence is a basic item everyone should wear!
