City-zen: Layered striped and plaid tops with skinny jeans, over-the-knee boots, and a baker boy cap

Today it was all about the city for Robin and me, dear readers!!

Three cities, to be exact – we had dentist appointments in Port Coquitlam first thing in the morning; and from there we cruised into downtown Vancouver to pick up a bottle of custom-tinted (pink of course!) conditioner from my hairstylist.

Then we were off to West Van for a late lunch of the best nachos ever on the patio of our favourite pub.  After debating whether or not we should order another platter – it was so tempting! – we decided instead to take a little stroll along Ambleside Beach, which has the most beautiful view of Vancouver, Stanley Park, and the iconic Lions Gate Bridge.

After we’d walked off the nachos, the Lions Gate took us downtown again and back to my hair salon, where we’d earlier been invited to an impromptu client appreciation party.  At first Robin wasn’t feeling too comfortable leaving our “topless” Solstice parked out on the city streets…but the two dollar beers managed to convince him it was worth the risk!!

(Don’t worry – as the designated driver, I stuck to drinking Perrier…and we made it home safe and sound!!)  ๐Ÿ˜Š

Monika, as always you do layers like no other. Those OTK boots are gorgeous and your dinner with a view sounds amazing.

I run a style linkup on Thursdays and I'd love for you to join it and share your awesome style with all of my readers. Thanks. Hope to see you there.

Remember when we were younger and the fashion world told us never to wear plaids and stripes together? What were they thinking? Sometimes breaking the old rules is scary, but what satisfaction we get when it comes together beautifully!

I can totally related to wanting that second plate of nachos!

I have a friend who told me that she doesn't like different patterns worn together, and I concede that certain combinations might not work. But – as with most things – the more we practise, the better we become…and I've been practising like heck when it comes to pattern mixing, dearest Rachel!! ;D P.S. Aren't nachos the best?! Yum!!
