Despite being “The Summer of the Hat” for me (we’ve had the top down on our convertible for an amazing two months straight now!) today was somehow the first time this season that I’ve worn my cowboy hat!!
I couldn’t have picked a better day for it, though!! Robin and I had hoped for a much earlier start – and a different destination – for this particular road trip; but we were waylaid by a long phone call just as we were about to head out the door. So with our departure unavoidably delayed, we decided on a short country drive instead!!
Just to be clear, I’m a city girl through and through; I can’t imagine not having shopping options and a Starbucks within walking distance from home. Farm country is a pretty place to visit…but so quiet, it feels eerie to me. I was oddly relieved when another car finally passed us on the road, because it was proof that the (real) world hadn’t ended during our rural interlude!!
And once again, this was an outfit that felt absolutely, perfectly “me.” I doubt I’ll ever succumb to a personal style “uniform” (why pigeonhole yourself when switching it up is so much fun!) but a go-to combo – in my case, that would be jeans, fab shoes, and yes! a hat! – might be the easiest way to guarantee a feel-good day!! 😊
