Tooth and Nail: houndstooth trousers with a skull-patterned tee, open-toe booties, and a felt fedora

Apparently I can’t deny them any longer, dear readers – those inevitable “autumn vibes” have started creeping into my sartorial repertoire!!

Not that I haven’t worn my go-to black pieces or my brown felt fedora throughout our steamy Vancouver summer…but these houndstooth trousers that I just brought home from H&M have “fall fashion” written all over them, don’t you agree??

I often shy away from a fabric like tweed because it regularly goes hand-in-hand with a conservative, boardroom-ready silhouette that is so not me; but in this case, I convinced myself that the skinny, low-waisted fit keeps the pants from skewing too “corporate.”  In fact, I couldn’t resist giving them a bit of a punkish turn for their first time out by pairing them with this knotted-at-the-waist, skull-patterned tee.

The days for bare toes and bare midriffs are surely numbered now…but as long as the weather permits, I’m going to fight tooth and nail to ease into the new season as gently as I can!!

Love the trousers and you have definitely succeeded in making them your own! I keep seeing these black and white plaids everywhere–quite on trend.

Rockstar. Like literally rockstar. As in a rock star would totally wear this outfit. Your adorable dapper pants and hat with the funky shoes and skull shirt is such an adorably offbeat combination.

I'm right with you trying to keep the season going as long as I can. I want to hold on to the sandals just a bit longer. (As for bare midriffs, though, that's not going to happen.)
