Flat-footed: Hidden-wedge booties styled with a denim mini skirt and fishnet tights

You’d be scrolling back through my blog pretty much forever before you’d find a photo of me in flats; they’re just not my thing.  So why has that changed today, you ask??

Because my awesome new harness boots are actually not flat…they only look that way!!  Booties are a particular weakness of mine, so when I was doing a little recreational shoe shopping recently (there’s such a thing, right?) and discovered these Enzo Angiolini ankle boots with a hidden wedge, of course they had to come home with me!!

Since minis are a natural with flats of all styles, choosing my cut-off denim skirt was a no-brainer for my booties’ debut today.  And seriously – how great are fishnets for adding some extra texture to any outfit?!  The transition to opaque legwear is likely inevitable as our Vancouver weather gets colder, but I’m going to enjoy the less “covered up” look of tights like these for as long as I can!!

I bet you’ll be seeing these faux-flat booties styled with skinny jeans very soon, dear readers!!  And in the meantime, I’m looking forward to hearing whether you are Team Flats or Team Heels all the way…or if you can’t possibly imagine not playing for both sides on a regular basis!!

I love this outfit, Monika! I really like your shirt and your boots! I'm definitely team flats (due to bad flat feet!!) I used to wish I could wear heels, but now I've got so many cute pairs of flats, so I'm happy! XXX

I often wonder what I'd do if I couldn't wear my beloved heels anymore, dear Sasha; but of course you are right…there are a TON of other cute options out there!! You rock those flats, girl!! 👍

Great outfit. I love the shirt and I love how you playfully used the fishnets. It's cool to see them used in a playful, rather than slutty, way. (Don't get me wrong. I love them in a slutty look too!)

I am team low/mid heels. I avoid flat flats because I have low arches and need a bit of arch support, but I find too-high heels to be painful. I just can't go very far in them. I have read that the ability to tolerate walking in heels is genetic. Some people have the feet for it and some don't. It can sometimes depend on the shoe for me. I do have some high heels that I wear when I don't anticipate much walking. I swear the "comfort" brands (like Aerosoles) can be more painful than some of the mystery brands I buy at DSW. Even if they don't hurt my feet right away, I do have issues eventually because I have a bunion on my right foot and heels shove my forefoot into the toebox and my bunion gets pretty angry being pressed on all day.

Leftover DVT issues aside, I'm lucky that I have very little trouble with my feet, dear Rachel!! Unlike my mom and sister…who get blisters from virtually every new pair of shoes they buy (even those so-called "comfort" brands). So I totally believe that being able to wear high heels is a genetic gift!! ☺️
