Business as usual: what to wear when you’re taking a break from holiday parties

I hope you’re not disappointed that you haven’t seen any holiday party outfit ideas yet when you’ve visited here, dear readers!!  The blogosphere (and Instagram and Pinterest, of course!) are positively exploding right now with “what to wear” advice for every possible festive scenario – from office Christmas party, to Boxing Day family brunch, to New Year’s Eve date night – so I’m thinking you’re probably doing just fine in that department without me putting in my two cents as well!! 😉

Besides – I’ve always been proud of the fact that the looks I share are looks that I was actually wearing when Robin and I go out-and-about each weekend.  In all my years of blogging, I can count on one hand the number of occasions that I’ve created (or re-created) an outfit specifically for a photoshoot…and then only because we quite literally couldn’t squeeze in some picture-taking on the actual “day of,” due to limited daylight hours or impossible weather.

I promise that I’m not completely forgoing the festive looks, though; my office party was last Saturday, and I went all out for “Best Dressed” of the evening (tee hee)!!  You’ll be seeing that special outfit featured here on Christmas Day –  oh my gosh, it’s only two weeks away! – so please plan to stop in for a little visit between gift opening and turkey dinner!!  And in the meantime, it’s business as usual around here…with some red plaid pants today for just a dash of holiday flavour!!

I think your outfit is quite festive looking. Your pants and boots are utterly fabulous! I would have pegged this as the kind of holiday party outfit that one would wear to the kind of party I would be attending. When I see blogs full of these fancy outfits, I find myself asking, “Where are these people going?” That’s so not my life! The one or two parties I attend are all pretty casual. I have three Christmas events this season and one of them is the Christmas dinner I’m hosting! My formal office party won’t happen until January. I still need inspiration for what to wear in between.

I may not have been headed to a party…but I do admit to feeling quite “seasonally appropriate” in this outfit, dear Rachel!! You know what they say, though – jeans and a nice top (and some fab shoes, of course!) will take you just about anywhere!! P.S. Our circle of friends isn’t particularly fancy either; and while I’m usually the most “dressed up” of all of us at any get-together, even I don’t need as many sparkly Christmas dresses as the online world wants to convince me I need!! 😁

My goodness i adore your style. Fab look. Super hair . I also only blog real outfits. It just fits my life better plus I’m showing what I wore to what so I think it’s more helpful. Glad I’ve found a fellow blogger who does the same.
