Well, that didn’t take long at all, did it?! Here I am once more strutting my stuff in my new, slightly-over-the-top but oh-so-amazing silver platform boots; since their debut, I only managed to wait a single week before I could no longer resist the urge to style them up and wear them out again!! I’ll be honest, though – if it were even remotely appropriate to pair “disco” booties with scrubs for my job at the veterinary clinic, I’d probably be wearing them every day!! 😜
As much as boots like this might seem kind of…um…ostentatious when they’re sitting on a shelf next to all those good old reliable black and brown versions (that was certainly my thought when I first spotted them at the shoe store!) I’m so glad I decide to go with my gut and take a chance on them. Metallic, reptile-embossed leather footwear is actually remarkably versatile; and even quite subtle – rather than “in your face”! – when you put it together with the right companion pieces.
Today I combined my booties with black and white houndstooth trousers, a navy furry-sleeved sweater, and an adorable black and white checkered beret…the latest addition to my ever-growing hat collection. See what I mean about the boots politely playing a supporting role, rather than demanding to be the star of the show??
And speaking of supporting roles – can we please have a big round of virtual applause for my tough-as-nails husband slash photographer?? What started out in the morning as a nasty cough morphed into something much worse by the time we were ready to take these pics; Robin could barely catch his breath, but he insisted that he could power through this photoshoot so that you, dear readers, wouldn’t miss out on a blog post today!! I may be the one sharing my outfit ideas…but I sure couldn’t do it without him!!
