I’m really not one for setting serious New Year’s resolutions, dear readers; statistically speaking, fewer that 10% of all resolutions ever actually “stick”…and I think that if someone is truly committed to making a lifestyle change like eating healthier or quitting smoking, they wouldn’t need (and wouldn’t want) to wait until January 1st to get the ball rolling. Gearing up to make 2018 my most sartorially inspired – and inspiring! – year yet, on the other hand?? Now that’s a fun kind of goal that I’m excited about setting for myself…and this reworked denim and faux-fur jacket combo has me feeling that I’m off to a pretty good start!!
These particular jeans may not be my go-to “skinny” style…but the cropped hem (DIY, by the way!) and tuxedo-stripe detail make them a cool option when I’m craving a slightly different silhouette. Cropped trousers don’t have the inherently leg-lengthening effect of streamlined skinnies or leggings, so pairing them with my studded platform booties gives the look those extra few inches that shorties like me always appreciate!! And while I’m still stubbornly “anti” socks almost all the time, I boldly opted for some fishnet knee-highs today for an extra touch of edgy texture. 😉
The pièce de résistance of this ensemble, though?? It’s gotta be my personality-packed furry black and white and teal jacket!! It’s actually a bit longer than it appears; I tucked the front of the jacket into my belted jeans (much like you’d do with an oversized sweater) to let my waistline make an appearance amidst all that fab fluffiness!! And because it was super sunny this afternoon, my teal sunglasses (I couldn’t resist doing a little matchy-matchy with my coat!) and flat-top fedora were kinda non-optional add-ons.
So yes to getting inspired and letting those awesome outfits ensue!! And remember – you can share your own looks on my Fearless Fashion File community Pinterest board; simply send me an email request for an invitation to join…and let’s make this coming year our most stylish EVER!!
