When you’re a personal style blogger who flatly refuses to do outfit pics indoors – like me! – any day that doesn’t involve pouring rain is a great day. That being said, there are plenty of other factors that can make a photoshoot pretty challenging; and with today’s post you are witness to one of those challenges, dear readers…the wind!!
Not only did my hair blow across my face with every blustery gust (which can be kind of a cool effect; just not for every photo, thank you very much!) but clouds blew across the sun every few moments, too; which made getting the right camera settings an ongoing struggle for my long-suffering hubby.
But again – at least it wasn’t raining!! And that meant that I was all good with my most-definitely-not-water-repellant choice of outerwear. I wanted to go for a “lux cowgirl” vibe with my look this afternoon…which made this knee-length, faux-fur-collared coat the perfect topper for a denim-on-denim shirt and flare jeans combo.
And since my embroidered belt with its flower-shaped buckle is rather a statement-maker already, I kept my other accessories – my layered necklaces and my black Michael Kors bag – a bit more low key. You’re simply not doing a western-inspired ensemble right without a hat, though; and while my felt fedora isn’t technically a “cowboy” hat, it’s much more appropriate for the end of January than my straw iteration would be!!
Gotta hand it to those bull riders and barrel racers…keeping a brimmed hat on your head when there’s more than just a little turbulence in the air is quite a skill. I almost lost my fedora to the river a couple of times; and that would have been a sartorial disaster, am I right?! Which begs the question – have you ever lost (or almost lost!) a favourite piece to the wind before?? I hope you’ll take a moment to share your story!!
