All or nothing: reworked black jeans, camouflage shirt, and colour-blocked faux-fur jacket

Ever have one of those days when it feels like you’ve simultaneously done so much…and yet nothing at all??  That certainly describes this entire past weekend for us, dear readers!!  🤪

First, we waited at home practically all of Saturday for contractors to show up and do the floors in our den – which happens to be Robin’s home office – and we truly could do nothing but wait.  Our television cable and internet router are all hooked up in the den; and in order to have new flooring installed, everything needed to be disconnected and moved out.  So nothing to distract us from the ensuing chaos in the rest of our space; it’s not like we have a lot of room to stack boxes of files, bookcases, and computer equipment…even temporarily.  At least I had a new interior decorating book to flip through; and Robin made a Starbucks run – of course.  It’s amazing how my favourite chai latte always manages to smooth over all manner of “rough edges!!”

And after sleeping in yesterday (it ended up being a very late night on Saturday with moving the stuff back into the den and untangling what felt like miles of computer cords) we rushed out to pick up some groceries and get a photoshoot under our belts before we had to be home in time for a furniture delivery.  Robin desperately needed a new office chair and a few more storage options…and even though we have our winter car on the road right now – which, unlike the Solstice, has both a back seat and a trunk! – there was no way those boxes were going to fit!!

Now it’s Monday…and after two days of “hurry up and wait,” we’re more or less just back to where we started.  The den is, however, a much tidier place than it was only last week; and with a few more decorating tweaks and a fresh coat of paint (that’ll be our project next weekend!) we’ll have a room that both of us will enjoy.  And I guess that’s really not “nothing” after all!! 😊

I totally get how some weekends are like that! Or even work days somehow can also be like that–things are off track but busy simultaneously? It’s an unsettling dynamic. But it sounds like all worked out quite well in the end, and the home office is wonderfully refreshed.

Your ensemble is also wonderful. Thanks as always for the outfit inspiration!
