Today was one of those days, dear readers. You know – the “perfect storm” of miserable weather (it was rainy and cold) and a lack of sleep (I was up way too late watching Netflix) that had me wanting nothing more than to stay home nice and cozy on the couch with Starbucks on speed-dial. Of course Starbucks doesn’t do delivery – at least not yet! – so if we wanted our fix, Robin and I had no choice but to head out and brave the elements. Which meant only the absolutely warmest combination of my dad’s old wool turtleneck and my borrowed-from-the-boys shearling jacket would do!!
Honestly, “brave” is probably not the right word for it; “endure” or “suffer” would be more appropriate when I’m talking about this kind of typical-for-Vancouver winter weather!! I mentioned a few blog posts ago that I try to abstain from outerwear whenever I can…possibly leading you to believe that I’m okay with the cold. In actuality, this couldn’t be further from the truth; and it’s the reason why our only outdoor activity at this time of year is a quick dash from vehicle to mall – totally manageable without a coat. Photoshoots do make things more challenging; but our car is always merely a few feet away…with the engine running and the heater set to “inferno”!!
Back to those days, though – when I can’t seem to stop shivering no matter what, and when I have to pull out all the stops with a “heavy duty” outfit like my hand-me-down wool sweater and this Diesel coat…which I swear is the warmest coat on the entire planet!! A pair of distressed black jeans flash only the teeny-tiniest bit of skin; and those sleep-deprived eyes of mine?? They ain’t nothing that my orange cat-eye sunnies can’t camouflage. Oh, and you can bet there was an extra grande soy chai latte consumed just for good measure!!
