Perfect storm: the ultimate heavy duty outfit for miserable weather

The ultimate heavy duty outfit for miserable weather featuring a wool turtleneck sweater and shearling jacketToday was one of those days, dear readers.  You know – the “perfect storm” of miserable weather (it was rainy and cold) and a lack of sleep (I was up way too late watching Netflix) that had me wanting nothing more than to stay home nice and cozy on the couch with Starbucks on speed-dial.  Of course Starbucks doesn’t do delivery – at least not yet! – so if we wanted our fix, Robin and I had no choice but to head out and brave the elements.  Which meant only the absolutely warmest combination of my dad’s old wool turtleneck and my borrowed-from-the-boys shearling jacket would do!!

A pair of distressed black jeans flash only the teeny-tiniest bit of skin; and those sleep-deprived eyes of mine??  They ain’t nothing that my orange cat-eye sunnies can’t camouflage.  Oh, and you can bet there was an extra grande soy chai latte consumed just for good measure!!

That is such a lovely coat that I would want it to be cold enough to have an excuse to wear it.

I bought a coat on sale of blue suede with a faux fur lining (so beautifully soft too) and I can’t wait for the weather to be warm enough to wear it (and not rainy either). Sadly, I’m still buttoned up in the parka and will be for a while.

At first I couldn’t see why you said you had some exposed flesh. Then I saw your ripped knee. Yes, that is one way to expose some skin on a cold day. 😀

A ripped knee in my jeans was about the only “exposure” I could handle on this particular day, dearest Rachel!! 😜 It wasn’t even really THAT cold – but the dampness combined with my tiredness made it feel like it was well below freezing. I honestly couldn’t be happier to leave January in the proverbial rearview window…and tomorrow is Groundhog Day!! Let’s hope the little guy doesn’t see his shadow; I’m definitely on for an early spring!! XO

Monika you look SO cool – the bobbed hair, sunnies, roll neck and shearling jacket gives off such a cool vibe, like a character in a movie… can I BE you please?!!!!!!!!!!!

I love that you said the car’s heater is set to inferno! That really made me giggle, Monika!!
I also love that you had a late night because of Netflix (I can totally understand that) and then the need for Starbucks lol. We are so alike! Sadly for me, our closest Starbucks is an HOUR away booooooo. Hopefully they’ll consider opening one if my local shopping centre!

Your closest Starbucks is an HOUR away?! Oh Suzy…I’m sending you my deepest sympathies!! 😉 We have THREE Starbucks locations within a 5-minute drive from home!! Plus, there’s a shopping plaza being built right across the street from us; so with any luck, I’ll soon have one practically at my front door!! P.S. Yes, my hubby and I love our car as toasty as an oven…we always have the heat cranked waaay up!! XO
