Looking out: a seriously cool jean jacket, striped skinnies and white patterned shirt

Even though I don’t always wear every single piece I purchase just as soon as I bring it home – I think it’s kind of nice to have a few brand new things tucked away to “discover” when I’m feeling a little uninspired in the wardrobe department – most of my shopping finds definitely do go into immediate outfit rotation…and this seriously cool jean jacket was no exception!!

All my regular visitors know by now that I have a bit of a “problem” when it comes to buying jeans (I can’t seem to say no!) but it’s been a while since I’ve added a denim jacket to my collection.  Robin and I went to the mall after work on Thursday to properly usher in the start of the Easter long weekend (teehee!) and when I showed him this distressed and pearl-embellished number at Forever 21??  He gave it an unequivocal thumbs down.

Sometimes I’ll put a piece back on the rack when my hubby tells me he doesn’t like it; usually because I’m kind of “on the fence” about it myself.  But this jacket was just the sort of thing I’m always looking out for – an everyday basic with an edgy twist.  The pearl beading, raw hem, and cropped silhouette make it way different from a classic jean jacket; it’s truly a fashion item rather than the workwear piece that the average guy is familiar with…so I’m cutting Robin some slack for not “understanding” it!! 😉

I’m already looking forward to wearing this newest addition to my denim lineup with floaty bohemian dresses when the sunshine finally feels as warm as it looks; but in the meantime, my favourite striped skinnies and white patterned shirt gave me just a little more coverage against our still stubbornly chilly temperatures…without looking like “winter”.  Oh man – is anyone else as anxious as I am to get summertime started already?!

The jacket is adorable. My husband is a massive metrosexual clothes horse so he knows what he likes to see on me, but he doesn’t get it right every time. I have bought pieces he has vetoed. Glad you went with your own feelings here. You’re right that it would be cute with a floaty dress, but the jeans are just as cute.

Yes! I am waiting for summer. We had beautiful weather all weekend and i’m looking out the window at snow today. So done with this!

Oh goodness…more snow?! 😱 I guess I should be grateful that we’re only dealing with cooler-than-expected temperatures here in Vancouver!! And yes – our hubbies DO often have their own idea of what they’d like us to wear, don’t they?? I guess the key to keeping everyone happy – as it often is! – is compromise; sometimes their style suggestions “win”…and sometimes (um, most of the time?) ours do!! 😉

You have me chuckling–about husbands who don’t get certain things about fashion! Your dear Robin is definitely a cut above most hetero-men. He seems very supportive of your mission to dress with flair, and goes way above what many men would do to be your blog photographer! In fact, I am a wee jealous. My own dear husband has about zero eye for style and even less interest. We have a tacit agreement that usually works–I don’t question his expenditures on beer and bikes, and he doesn’t question my occasional clothing or shoe purchase!

It is heading into late spring/early summer weather here, which probably sounds great to you but makes my heart sink because soon it will be hotter than Hades. Every year I resolve to find ways to dress with flair when it is so darn hot, but mostly I think I fail. Sigh. . . I need to strategize again. How do you dress with any style when everything including the lightest clothing feels like too much!?

Wow, I am not meaning to sound so negative today. I swear I am smiling as I type!

You are so right, dear Linda…weather that’s “hot as Hades” is sounding pretty good to me right about now!! 😁 But I agree – just as with really cold temperatures, dressing for the heat certainly comes with its challenges!! I have absolute confidence that you’ll figure it out, though; practice makes perfect!! P.S. I AM a very lucky lady to have a husband who is as supportive of my blog as Robin is…I honestly couldn’t do it without him!!
