If you are a regular reader of fashion blogs or a follower of fashionistas on Instagram and Pinterest, then I’m sure you’ve seen them, too; post after post related to the covetability (Google tells me tells me this isn’t a word, but I’m using it anyways!) of “french girl style”…and just as many articles about how to achieve it.
Let me just say, though, that I didn’t purposely set out to look like a “french girl” today – I simply wanted an outfit that did the (very!) warm weather and our #daycation due justice. Even after our drive to Cannon Beach last weekend, Robin and I haven’t got the road-tripping bug out of our systems…so hopping into the Solstice for a nice long afternoon cruise?? That’s how we turn an ordinary day into a mini holiday!!
There’s always a breeze when you’re riding in a convertible – obviously! – and that means even what’s considered “room temperature” can feel substantially cooler. But this past week, we’ve been enjoying upwards of 30º celsius (that’s over 85º Fahrenheit for my American visitors!) which made a truly summery outfit the perfect choice for our drive to Mission and Harrison Hot Springs. Exactly the opportunity I’d been needing to debut my swingy little slip dress!!
I know I said there wouldn’t be a lot of new pieces showing up here until Robin secures another job…and I honestly have been making a serious effort to keep my shopaholic tendencies in check. But come on – my little floral-patterned frock was only $22 at Forever 21!! And I (ehem) may have brought home this compass pendant, striking onyx ring, and a couple of pairs of labradorite earrings from Oregon, too; no sales tax automatically makes everything a crazy good deal, right?! 😉
But it’s my skull-patterned head scarf that really puts this ensemble into très francais territory, I think. I couldn’t make up my mind about which hat I wanted to wear – and going without a head covering is definitely not an option when you’re spending hours under the blazing sun. The skulls, however?? Classic “me”…don’t you agree?!
