Determination: double denim with a chambray shirt and distressed skinny jeans

I don’t know about you, dear readers…but at the start of every summer, I have the best intentions to make use of all those extra daylight hours to really do things; not the least of which is to have friends over on the regular for a barbecue or some refreshments out on our terrace.

But here we are again – Labour Day is fast approaching, and I feel like we still have so much summer stuff to do, and not nearly enough time left to do it.  We’ve been on lots of drives, of course…enjoying our convertible for as long as the weather allows is definitely our number one priority!!  But those anticipated get-togethers have been few and far between.  In fact, our propane grill has barely been fired up since Robin refilled the fuel tank at the start of the season. 😧

And while I’ve been spending an hour or two on our lovely balcony just about every evening after work, with my hubby in night school since July, I’m spending the time out there mostly on my own.  But Robin graduates from his program at the end of this week – woohoo! – and that means he’ll be home again Monday through Friday night…at least until he gets a job with goodness knows what kind of crazy shifts!! 😳

All of which now has me doubly determined to pack plenty of spur-of-the-moment invitations to dinner or dessert or even just drinks on our deck into these next few weeks…not to mention as many more sunset drives to Starbucks as we can possibly squeeze into our schedules!! 😉 But what have you got planned for making the best of the rest of summer??  Or are you merely counting the days until the arrival of fall??  I always look so forward to reading your replies!!

I know exactly how you feel. I hate “wasting” summer. I keep a list of things I should do and places I should go and never get to any of them. We have another couple we often get together with and we are always planning stuff we think we should do, but we’re lucky if we check one item off the list. We try to organize just one activity and when it comes time to plan, nobody can agree on a date. This summer we just want to try to get to the NY Renaissance Faire and every weekend we choose gets rejected by someone. I had the idea for a great summer dinner party (can’t do a barbecue because I live in an apartment and can’t grill) and have nobody to invite. I sometimes wish my summer vacation was later in the summer (but I go to the same annual event every year and that’s always late July). Anyway, the next two weekends coming have finally been invited to parties. I will be doing lots of baking at least. I have another vacation coming in the fall, so I at least have something to look forward to once summer ends.

You nee to give a bit more photographic attention to that interesting bag you’re carrying!

Honestly, when you live in the desert you can hardly wait for summer to be over. We are literally cooked! My brains feel like they’ve melted out of my head sometimes. . . Yeesh, how whiny am I???!!! But actually I do understand what most people feel about the delights of summer, from having lived previously in places like LA and Minneapolis. I hope you get to enjoy lots of fun yet before your damp and chilly weather returns!
